Tour by La Riojana coast

This excursion surrounds the Velasco Mountain string. The departures is by the morning towards Famatina where we will visit the San Pedro church and the Cristo Articulado.

Subsequently we will continue our trip towards Ángulos, Campanas (Archeological museum), and Los Sauces till reach Aimogasta (olive three cuatri-centenary) towards the south by Anillaco - we will visit La Rosadita and Menem Wine Cellars-, Bolsón de Huaco, Va. Sanagasta, Los Sauces Dike and La Rioja with a short city tour.

Return to Chilecito at last hour in the afternoon.

From Chilecito, to the North, departure in the morning, we will visit Andolucas Bathing. Located at San Blas de los Sauces province, which north limit is Catamarca province, this bathing has a spectacular view with a incredible waterfall, inside of Los Sauces River.

Our tour continues trough many pinturesque towns till arrive to Alpasinche. Bordering the Velasco pike, we will appear at the occidental slope of the same.

Bañado de los pantanos, it will show us the proof of the incredible fight between man and desert. Fruit, olive and jojoba plantations provide the green contrast to the dryness of the plane.

Our first view of Aimogasta. There we will find "el olivo cuatricentenario", that survive from the havoc order by Carlos III Spain King, for consider the area a dangerous competition at olive production. At this valley the olives that compete with the best quality olives of the world are produced.

Leaving Aimogasta, we will enter at Santa Cruz, mountainous. We will be surprised by a castle made by artisans. At San Pedro we will find sculpted rock constructions, vegetation and producers of Patero Cocido Wine.

We will re take the main route, trough Anjullón, to arrive to Anillaco, town of Carlos Menem ex president of Argentina. Visit to "Aguada del alto del cielo", meaning of Anillaco, Polychromic landscapes town.

Few kilometers away a place of religious veneration: El Señor de la Peña. A big rock, at Luna Mountain feet´s, which observed by a side, has a human shape, the face of Christ, for the religious people.

Once in Velasco Coast, we will have the opportunity of appreciate many little mountain towns, each one with their respective particularity. Among them Chuquis, cradle of Pedro Ignacio de Castro Barros, who were deputy by Córdoba, La Rioja and Tucumán provinces at 1816 congress were the Argentina independence was declared

After crossing the pinturesque Huaco Slope, we will arrive at Sanagasta. In this place of special geographical disposition many camping areas are located between mountains of unusual colorful combinations.

Continuing our tour, we will find the most gratefully mirror of water. At Los Sauces Dike, here many nautical sports are practiced and at its shores we will find bars and clubs.

Traveling trough a tunnel, we will arrive at La Quebrada, residential area of La Rioja Capital City. We will arrive at an antique Spanish Fort of the ends of the century XVI: Las Padercitas.

Finally, we will arrive at Todos los Santos de la Nueva Rioja city, founded on May 20, 1591 by Don Juan Ramírez de Velasco.

Rich city in history, with important museums, impressive Cathedral, Santo Domingo Church (s.XVI), between much more tourism attractiveness by its well known "ciudad de los naranjos".
