Patagonia Tours, Special Program (Days: 12)
Day 1 :
Reception International Airport and transfer to J.Newbery Airport. Flight to
Bariloche.
Day 2 :
Tour Cathedral Mountain .This 2388 mountain is 20 km from Bariloche and is one
of the leading Latin American ski resorts with 67 km of slopes. It owes its name
to the remarkable rocky formation at the summit with limestone crests and rock
pinnacles, just like the spires of a cathedral. The summit can be reached by
cable car or chair lift and offers a magnificent view of the Andes, its peaks,
blue lakes, valleys and the town of San Carlos de Bariloche. BD
Day 3 :
A scenic 50km drive skirting Lake Nahuel Huapi as far as Puerto Pañuelo and the
Llao Llao peninsula. Leaving this lake behind, the road climbs through a forest
of coihue trees, a native evergreen, offering views of the Andean peaks, Tronador
(Thunderer) being the highest (3554m). The road then winds along Lake Moreno to a
panoramic point which offers a breathtaking view of Lakes Moreno and Nahuel Huapi,
Victoria Island and the Andes in all their splendor. We suggest an optional stop
at Cerro Campanario to take the chair-lift to the summit for a spectacular view.

Day 4 :
Transfer Bariloche Airport. Flight to El Calafate. Transfer to Hotel. Free day. B
Day 5 :
After breakfast we depart by bus to the Magallanes peninsula, where is located the
entrance of The Glaciers National Park. Its centerpiece is the Perito Moreno Glacier,
which, because of unusually favorable local conditions, is one of the world`s few
advancing glaciers. Huge icebergs from the glacier wall collapse into the De los
Tempanos Channel. The roar of the gigantic ice rocks falling and crashing into the
waters of the channel is a unique experience.
Our bus will lead us just in front of the Glacier, allowing us to walk the gangplanks
to view the Glacier from different viewpoints.
Then we go down to the lakeside to board a ship that carries us very near the Glacier
ice walls. We return to El Calafate using a different route that we used to arrive.

Day 6 :
Free day. Optional : Free day in Calafate. Optional : Upsala Glacier Sailing. (Leaving
from our port at Puerto Punta Bandera at 8.00 a.m., the excursion begins with navigation
along the northern arm of the Lake and later on the Upsala Arm of the Lake where we
find impressive icebergs until we reach the imposing views of the Upsala Glacier.
The adventure continues with navigation of the Cristina Arm of the lake until we
reach the Estancia. This privileged spot prides itself on being the best access by
land to the Glacier as well as the Ice Cap.) BD
Day 7 :
Transfer to El Calafate Airport. Flight to Trelew. We arrive to Trelew flying 1200
km/745 miles to the south from Buenos Aires. We transfer by Bus to Puerto Madryn,
where we spent the day enjoying this historical town. Populated from 1886 as a
railway junction, immigrant workers flooded in from Europe as the railway network
expanded. Both Welsh and Italian language and traditions are still very strong
here. BD.
Day 8 :
After breakfast, you will be driven to Peninsula Valdes, a paradise for wildlife
lovers with World Heritage status.
We start our journey visiting the Interpretation Centre, located in the Florentino
Ameghino Isthmus, from where we have a panoramic view of both gulfs, Nuevo and San
Jose. We continue to Puerto Piramide, a village on the south side of the Peninsula.
Here you may enjoy a whale watching boat expedition (optional) to observe the
magnificent Southern Right Whales that remain in the area from June through December.
We visit Caleta Valdes, a natural canal with great variety of marine and terrestrial
wildlife; a sea lion colony, and the landscape at Punta Delgada lighthouse. We
continue to the Salinas Chica and Grande, the biggest depressions in South America,
and to Isla de los Pajaros (Birds` Island) with their impressive birdlife variety.
We return around 6 pm to Puerto Madryn. BD
Day 9 :
You will be driven to Punta Tombo, the biggest continental breeding ground of Magellan
penguins. There, you will have the opportunity to walk along the park trails and
see over 200 thousand live nests, and more than 600 thousand penguins. In the
afternoon, you will visit Gaiman, a picturesque small town settled by Welsh immigrants
in the 1870s, and that still maintains much of its original architecture. We may
savor a delicious Welsh tea with pastries at one of the traditional teahouses of
Gaiman (optional). In the evening you return to Puerto Madryn. BD
Day 10 :
Transfer to Trelew Airport. Flight to Buenos Aires. Free day. Optional Buenos Aires
City Tour, Argentina`s Capital is one of the largest cities in the world. Gateway
to the country, this metropolis is proof of the Argentinean heterogeneous essence.
With its own taste of bars and restaurants and a mixture of architectural styles,
Buenos Aires is a city of multiple contrasts. Melancholy is breathed in every
neighborhood and, as you walk and explore it, you may perceive the spirit of tango.
The tourist is marveled by Buenos Aires`s charm. B
Day 11 :
Free day. This big city is often called "The Paris of South America". Drive down the
widest boulevard on earth, 9 de Julio, past the Obelisk commemorating 400 years of
history, past the Colon Opera House and many other places of interest in this
sophisticated European style city. Afternoon at leisure to explore at your own pace.
There is an outdoor antique flea market in historic San Telmo and a street artisan
fair in fashionable Recoleta. B
Day 12 : Transfer to International Airport. End of our services. B
