Route 40 - Patagonic Runner

Bariloche - Cuevas de las Manos - Calafate - Chalten-Paine
2004/2005

This legendary route, starts at Argentina North and runs parallel to Los Andes, crossing completely the Argentina Republic. At the Patagonia south, mythic and fascinating place is where this route before traveled by adventurers, today opens its doors to be known for the whole world.
You would visit regularly or touristically: San Carlos de Bariloche, El bolsón, Esquel, Río Mayo, Los Antiguos, Cueva de las Manos, El Calafate and El Chaltén towns, and the most important places of this area, assuring all the departures and making easy the transportation inside Rio Negro, Chubut and Santa Cruz provinces for the travelers.
It is a 660 Kilometers of rubble path that provides the tourist a finished sample of our typical Argentinean Patagonian landscapes. At the same time it is possible to enjoy wild flora and fauna observation as the guanácos, choiques (patagonic nandu), foxes, rabbits, condors, skunks and pinches.

· Transfer Bariloche-Perito Moreno-Calafate.
· 1 night lodging at Perito Moreno city.
· 1 night lodging in Calafate.

· Excursion by Perito Moreno Glacier.

ITINERARY
6 days 5 nights
Travel from North to South

Day 1

Departure from Bariloche by car in exclusive service.
Visit to "Los Alerces" National Park.
Departure admiring the natural beauties of the place.
10 Minutes stop at Esquel, arrival to Gobernador Costa.
Departure towards Mayo River. Arrival to Mayo River and Lodging.
Rest under the Patagonia starred sky.

Day 2.

Breakfast, departure towards "Los Antiguos" (Enter to the first arm of the rubble path of Route 40 )
Arrival to "Los Antiguos" city. We will have lunch at a restaurant from the place. Double base lodging with all meals included at an Antique Patagonian Inn. Excursion by Zeballos Mount distant place of the Original Mountain Range with an original beauty (with guidance.)
Dinner at the Inn.

Day 3.

Breakfast.
Departure towards "Cueva de las Manos" Rupestrian paintings and cultural vestiges of old data much before the arrival of the Europeans at this Patagonian lands. Arrival and guided visit to "Cuevas de las Manos". At this place we will have the opportunity of tasting typical delicacies of the region, accompanied by exquisite national produced wines, surrounded by a singular beauty natural frame. Departure towards La Angostura or Maipú Estancia.
Arrival and tour by the Estancia – lodging at the same room with all the meals included.

Day 4.

Breakfast, departure towards EL Chaltén.
Arrival at El Chaltén lodging and dinner.

Day 5.

Excursion to "Desierto" Lake visit to Salto del Chorillo. City tour, dinner at a restaurant.

Day 6.

Breakfast. Departure towards El Calafate city, end of our long travel, arrival to El Calafate, lodging in a Hostel, lunch, and excursion by Perito Moreno Glacier, dinner.
