Puna - Iruya and Humahuaca Gorge
Alta Puna Humahuaca - Iruya

Program:
Day 1:
Folowing the way of "El Tren de Las Nubes" by the gorge of "Toro", admiring the views of the
snake-like railway , we reach to the Tastil ruins where we observe the remains of an old native ,
indian settlement. Afterwards we go on up to San Antonio de Los Cobres, former capital city of the
territory in the times of the Spanish Empire. we continue to Susques village of 1.200 habitants
where we will visit a very nice church, them continue to Salinas Grandes, the great salt flat and
at the end of the day we finish in Purmamarca village to stay in a hotel.
Day 2:
During the morning is the right time to take pictures to 7 colours hill and the village,
them we continue our trip on Humahuaca gorge to the city of the same name where we will
visit the historic down town. Then we go to Iruya is a small village build in the middle of the
mountain area like you can see in the picture above, and is situated in Salta province. To get
there we will cross a pass of 4.000 mts. above sea level and then down the road until 2.800 mts.

Day 3:
On the last day, after leaving Iruya we will return over the same way to Humahuaca city,
then Tilcara village where we will stop to visit the archeological ruins and the museum in the down town.
Then we will return to Salta using a nice road where we will see part of the rain forest
area on the way, making an strong contrast after many days seeing deserts and salt flat.
