Urban Parks in Mendoza city
Mendoza city besides of the traditional wine tours offers to its visitors several green areas to its visitors inside the urban area of the city, oasis, fo nationals and foreigners
General San Martín Park
Location: Av. Bolougne Sur Mer and includes the famous Cerro de la Gloria
The park has almost 300 native species of Cuyo region. It was designed by the famous French architect Carlos Thays, and represents a mandatory stop for the tourists; it has antique sculptures, fountains and beautiful gardens. There also you will find also numerous sport entities in the park interior like the famous Malvinas Argentinas Provincial Stadium.
Cerro de la Gloria
It is a forested mountain, in its summit you will find the “Ejercito de los Andes” Monument. It is also possible to watch all the Park and Mendoza city. In the mountain hillside is located the zoo, with 7 kilometers of paths with wooded streets where is possible to observe different exotic and native species. In the mountain south side is located the Frank Romero Day Greek Theater, main scenery of the Vendimia celebration.
Central Park
It is the most recent attraction of Mendoza city and the axis of the urban city renovation. The complex isn’t finish yet but will house the new Mendoza Cathedral and more cultural attractions.
O´Higgins Park
It has an important variety of trees and children’s game; it is located in the east side of the city, around the Zanjon Cacique Guaymallen Channel. In the park you will find Gabriela Mistral Municipal Amphitheater, and the attractive Municipal Aquarium. Nearby at Sarmiento square is located the Mendoza Cathedral.
University City
It is a 76 hectares complex located beside the park, location of the rectorate, and most of the academic units of Cuyo National University.
Papagayos Circuit
It is a tourist circuit with paved routes, it has attractives as: Divisadero Largo National Reservoir, Lourdes Virgin Sanctuary at Challao, Panoramic over looker of the city and metropolitan area and numerous campings and recreational areas.
