San Miguel de Tucumán is the capital of the province.

This region possesses a varied geography: from high mountains, plains, forests, to fertile plains and desert areas. Few kilometers away, an imposing desert of high summits turns into a subtropical forest.

San Miguel of Tucumán is the capital and the heart of Tucumán. It is the most important commercial, industrial and cultural center in the northwest of Argentina.

Along its geography, it has suitable spaces for the practice of different sports as fishing in rivers, sailing, kayaks, mountaineering, trekking, polo, delta wings, parachuting, hunting and canoeing.

Attractive Tourist Places

San José de Lules is a town located 20 kilometers from San Miguel de Tucumán. In this place, the ruins of the Church of San José de Lules are situated. This church constitutes a clear testimony of the colonization.

The Gulch of Lules is located few kilometers away from San Miguel de Tucumán. It offers a beautiful landscape composed by high summits, valleys and cascades.

San Javier Village is located 20 kilometers from Tucumán. The Hill San Javier is situated 1.220 meters above the sea level. It offers one of the most splendid views of the forest of Tucumán.

Simoca is a population located 58 kilometers from the city of Tucumán. It is an urban center of a vast agricultural and industrial area. The famous Fair of Simoca, a traditional event that concentrates producers and tourists, is carried out every week.

El Cochuna Provincial Park is situated 1.700 meters above the sea level. It contains a dense subtropical flora. The Laguna del Tesoro (Lagoon) is a place of extraordinary beauty which is surrounded by high mountains and forests.

El Mollar is a serene summer village. There, it is possible to find the Dike La Angostura where you can practice various water sports and fishing.

Amaicha del Valle is the only indigenous community of the province. It is well known because it is said that it has the best climate in the world. In this community, the traditional Party of the Pachamama (an Aymara celebration) is carried out. Some places of interest to visit are the ruins of Quilmes.
