Puerto Madero and Costanera Sur, City of Buenos Aires, Argentina
It is located near to downtown, on the river shores. Puerto Madero owes its name to Eduardo Madero, an important merchant of the city. It is the youngest neighborhood of Buenos Aires and one of the most exclusive ones because of its extension and its sea views.
The latest two years, numerous important residential towers have been built; its location and its connection with the Riverside Avenue make Puerto Madero the most expensive neighborhood of the city.
The neighborhood is a popular zone. The ecologic reserve is outskirts of the port. The beautiful “Puente de la Mujer” (Bridge of Women) adorns the neighborhood since 2001. This is a peculiar location because of its streets and avenues whose names belong to 25 important women (doctors, politicians, writers, journalists, an aviator and artists); they are commonly known as “Patricias” or heroines and professors.
Puerto Madero was used as a dock port for many decades. It has been recently changed to an exclusive, modern and quaint commercial center where the most prestigious companies, movie theaters, five star hotels and the best restaurants of the city are situated.
