Tourist attractions

Nature Reserve of Pilar

The Reserve of Pilar is located only 2 km away from the city. It is easy to arrive to this place. This is a natural attraction whose exuberant landscapes cover 300 hectares and include 6 Km of the Lujan riverside, a lagoon, two streams, several rushes and vast grassland.  In the zone, there are a lot of fauna and flora: 155 animal species and sarandi Colorado, talares, and juncal forests.
The high lands were totally changed because of the agriculture, the urban group’s settlement and the proximity to Buenos Aires.
The lowest zones are composed by pastureland, flooded lagoons and changeable salt marshes. The lagoons, rivers and streams are valuable humid zones which do not only represent a reserve, but also, keep a varied fauna and flora.

The natural reserve was created in order to contribute to the protection and preservation of the native fauna and flora, a rich heritage of the city of Pilar.
