Valdés Peninsula, Argentina
Valdés Peninsula, located 220 kilometers from Puerto Madryn, is an astonishing
sanctuary of wild life unique in the world. It is protected by a system of specific
reservations as the elephant reservation from Punta Norte, Caleta Valdés and
Punta Delgada, besides the wolf reservation of Punta Pirámides and the Isla de
los Pájaros.
Península Valdés gives us a unique landscape whose arid lands contrast with the
blue and crystalline sea. Colonies of birds, penguins, wolves and marine elephants
are plentiful. It is ideal to see whales, sea elephants and sea dogs closely. The
southern frank whale arrives every year to the gulves San Jose and Nuevo.
In Peninsula Valdés lives only 450 people dedicated to the tourism and the pastoral
attention of 150.000 ovine, 800 bovine and 400 horses.
This peninsula was declared Natural Patrimony of the Humanity by the UNESCO in 1999.

Attractive tourist places
Camarones, founded in 1535, is a picturesque town located in a bay of red
rocks and blue waters. In this bay lies the sunken wreck of the steamship Villarino
that transported the mortal remains of General José de San Martin to our country.
Very near is the Reserva Faunística de Cabo Dos Bahías, where two-hair wolves and
penguins are being protected.
In its coast you will find beautiful beaches and countless creeks and bays, where
you will be able to fish and practice other types of nautical sports.
