Valdés Peninsula, Argentina
Valdés Peninsula, located 220 kilometers from Puerto Madryn, is an astonishing sanctuary of wild life, unique in the world. It is protected by a system of specific reservations as the Reservations of Punta Norte, Caleta Valdés, Punta Delgada, Punta Pirámides and the Isla de los Pájaros (The Birds Island).
Península Valdés presents a unique landscape whose arid lands contrast with the blue and crystalline sea. Colonies of birds, penguins, wolves and marine elephants are plentiful. It is possible to observe whales, sea elephants and sea dogs closely. The southern frank whale arrives every year to the gulfs of San Jose and Nuevo.
In Peninsula Valdés, only 450 people live, they are dedicated to the tourism and the pastoral attention of 150.000 ovine, 800 bovines and 400 horses.
This peninsula was declared a Natural Patrimony of the Humanity, by the UNESCO, in 1999.
Other important places to visit are: the Center Interpretación F. Ameghino, Regional Museum Fuerte San José, Mirador, Estancia La Aldea, and the beaches of Larralde and Villarino.

Attractive Tourist Places
Camarones, founded in 1535, is a picturesque town which is located in a bay of red rocks and blue waters. In this bay, the sunken wreck of the steamship Villarino lies; it transported the mortal remains of the General José de San Martin to Argentina.
Very near to this place, the Reserva Faunística de Cabo Dos Bahías is situated; here, two-hair wolves and penguins are being protected.
In this coast, you will find beautiful beaches and countless creeks and bays where you will be able to fish and practice other types of nautical sports.
