Palermo Neighboohood and Costanera Norte, Buenos Aires city, Argentina
Main Buenos Aires city neighborhood where the best museums, parks, botanic garden and Buenos Aires zoo are situated; it is the longest and the most forested in Buenos Aires, is located only 15 minutes away from downtown.
It is a long neighborhood, has different sectors, its main axis is Del Libertador avenue, begins from Retiro and end in General Paz.
Palermo, a residential neighborhood, one of the wealthy in the city, has streets plenty of trees, where there are elegant upper - middle class houses.
The forests of Palermo, the green lungs of the city, are located in this zone.
Palermo is sub divided in 3 areas: Palermo Viejo, Palermo Chico and Jardines de Palermo (gardens).

A residential and upper class zone is one of the most privileged ones in the city, a peaceful place near the main banks and corporations.

Palermo Viejo
It was known as Villa Alvear, was a tenant neighborhood, built at the beginning of XX century, in the 80´s. Nowadays, several houses were remodeled and many professionals and artists live there.
In Palermo Viejo we can see cafes, design houses, theatre rooms, restaurants, so specialized stores, and so on.

* Italia Square
It is located in the crossroads of Sarmiento, Santa Fe and Heras avenues.
It is considered one of the most crowded places in the entire city. In the centre the monument to Giuseppe Garibaldi, Italian revolutionary, is located. Surroundings are the “mateos”, carriages for tourist rides.
Surroundings are situated “La Rural”, the zoo and the botanic garden. There are crafts fairs every weekend where people sell very cheap second-hand books.
* Zoo of Buenos Aires
Del Libertador, Sarmiento, Las Heras avenues and República de la India.
It was built more than one hundred years ago. It is a place for walking, has variety of animal species and the architecture reproduces classic works in the world. The gate is a Triumphal Arch of Tito in Roma; the Elephants Palace is a replica of Nimaschi goddess in Numbai; the Vesta Temple, a circular construction, has 16 Corinthian columns.
The zoo has works of art as “La Niña con Flores”, an art replica of Canova Italian artist, “El Mono Caído de Passani” and a women statue which belongs to Lola Mora.
It was founded in 1875 by Sarmiento ex president, has an important collection of native and exotic fauna.
* Botanic Garden

It was inaugurated in 1898, is considered the peak of Carlos Tays´ works, French architect. Over eight hectares where are exhibited 5.000 and 6.000 plants species.
The Argentinean flora has a privileged place for exhibiting the characteristics of each province. In other halls, the flora of each continent is exhibited.
The garden is decorated with numerous sculptures and fountains. Its 7 hectares has more than 7.000 botanic species.

It has been 120 years since it is the most important centers of exhibitions of Buenos Aires. It covers 45.000mª and has four conferences halls. There, one of the most important fairs in the world is carried out every year.
Jorge Luis Borges Street
It is a typical street; Jorge Luis Borges writer was born on August 24, 1899 in the town center, two years later, its family moved to 2135 house of this street, Borges lived in Palermo to 1914. Nowadays, the house doesn’t exist.

It is only 10 minutes away from the town, is the green lungs of Metrópolis, and has 25 hectares covered by forest and an artificial lake with small boats for enjoying a pleasant trip. Few meters away, there is an elegant garden with incredible rosebush varieties, its name is Rosedal. The “Patio Andaluz” has ceramic fountains and a small square, all of them a donation of Seville city council.
* Planetario

“Holy Sand” Thematic Park
