Esquel city, Argentina
Located at 2.050 kilometers from Buenos Aires in the Patagonia
de los Lagos of Chubut is the most developed city in the sector west of the Chubut
province.
It is considered the head of tourist services, since it counts with receptive
agencies, coastal traffic airport, restaurants, hotels of very good level and other
types of lodgings like the cabins that prevail in the whole mountain range and
the numerous camping sites.
The whole year is in season since its attractions are combined among the winter
and summer season. Esquel has rigorous winters and warm summers. Sport fishing,
rafting, mountain climbing, skiing or trekking is the most common activities to
carry out.
This city is characterized by its fertile valleys where the production of fine
fruit and the elaboration of delicious sheep cheese or the exquisite smoked
trouts are plentiful.

The Glaciers in San Rafael's Lagoon that for the proximity with the Chilean
territory allows to visit beautiful place of the Patagonia; besides the chance
to try the sea fruits or to buy handmade souvenirs.
From the city of Esquel passing by the town of Tecka, everything on an asphalted
route, you arrive to enormous narrow passes that conform the Great Canyon of the
River Chubut(Valley of the Altars, of the Martyrs, of the Feathers), until
skirting the imposing Reservoir of the Florentine Dike Ameghino.

The whole Central Patagonia is a true trip through time that transports us to
the Jurassic era of the dinosaurs and a unique landscape of petroleum bombs
diversifying the landscape of eternal horizons.
National Park Lago Puelo, located 20 kilometers from El Bolsón, in the northwest
end of the county of Chubut. With approximately 23.700 hectares the Lake Puelo
is the main source of water. The rivers Epuyén, Azul and Turbio end in the lake
whose waters have a higher temperature than that of most of the lakes of the south.
The best season to visit the area is from November to April.
National park Los Alerces, located 50 kilometers from Esquel, is well communicated
by nets of national and provincial roads. Flora and fauna with gigantic larches
and coniferous of more than 60 meters height and 3000 years of age.
Center of Winter Sports La Hoya, located 13 kilometers from Esquel very visited
during the winter season. It offers hotels, lodges, equipment rental, cable seats,
lanes, and ski schools.
It is interesting to go for a roundtrip on the steam train La Trochita, built at
the beginning of century that today continues working with departures from Esquel
or from the town El Maitén. It is an old Patagonian express that unites the towns
of Ing. Jacobacci and Esquel. It is recommended to make the tract of 20 kilometers
to the station Nahuel Pan.
Trevelin, called town of the mill, is an establishment of a Welsh
colony at only 20 kilometers from Esquel and 19 kilometers from the Futaleufú dam.
Trevelin is unique for its peace and tranquility. You can practice horseback riding,
canoeing, fourtrax, mountain bike, rafting, nautical safari and trekking.
35 kilometers to the south is the Lake Rosario, where one of the Mapuche
reservations more southern of the country settles.
