Cosquín city is located 62 Km away from Córdoba, in the middle of hearth of Punilla Valley.
It is the tourism capital because of its privileged climate. The different landscapes that adorn Cosquín are green shades. Every year, thousand of tourists visit this place in order to enjoy the sun, the beach and the mountains wind.
It is the venue of the famous folklore festival since 1961. The festival’s popularity transcends the frontiers; attract thousand of tourists and visitors from our country, making Cosquín a focal concentration point.
Nowadays, the Cosquín´s economy is based in tourist resources. Its rivers and vegetation are considered great beauty, in conjunction with the weather, the fresh air, and the vast green spaces and also the didactic- recreational activities which are carried out the festivals month attract to tourists.

The most common squares are:
San Martín
It covers all block, is located on the following streets: San Martín Avenue, Tucumán, Pte Sarmiento and Salta. It is decorated with a fountain, flowers and a lush grove.
Prospero Molina
The place where is carried out one of the biggest festivals of folklore. It is possible to visit it the whole year.
Marcuzzi Small Square
It is situated in front of buses station.
“Nuestra Señora del Rosario” church
It was built in different stages, since the last half of XIX century. It has a central nave with two subsidiaries; one of them is the private chapel of “Wholly Sacrament”, and the other one belongs to font, was carved by natives in XIX century. The altarpiece from the Major Altar belongs to XVIII, and inside “Nuestra Señora del Rosario” is. To the left, San Esteban statue, the former patron of Punilla (actual vice-patron of Cosquín) is situated.
Festival of Cosquín
The Folkloric Festival of Cosquín is one of the most important ones, dedicated to country culture. It has peculiar characteristics, shows authenticity in folklore artistically expression, quality, expressive vanguardism and recovery of traditional legacy.
It is one of the most important folkloric festivals. It is carried out the second half of January in Cosquín. It is used to make reference to nine moons of Cosquín, and there are activities like:
- Cosquín´s Festival
- Performance with professional folkloric groups
- Folkloric ballets presentations.
- Folkloric shows inside tents where the artists interact with public.
- The tents and bonfires where people sing and dance on the river shores.
- The Congress of Argentinean Man and its culture. There, there are courses and workshops for children and adults.
The nine days are called “El duende Cosquín”.
The festival not only develops in scenery. Every night, there are bands of famous singers, where public dance and enjoy typical food and good wine. The rider’s parade, the bonfires on the river shores, the dancing next to the colorful tents contribute to hubbub and the festival enthusiasm all night.
