Cosquín is located 62 Km away from Córdoba, in the middle of the Punilla Valley.
It is a tourist capital because of its privileged climate. The different landscapes that adorn Cosquín are green shades. Every year, thousands of tourists visit this place in order to enjoy the sun, the beach and the mountains.
This is the see of a famous folklore festival since 1961. The popularity of such festival transcends the frontiers; it attracts thousands of national tourists and foreign visitors.
Nowadays, the economy of Cosquín is based on tourist resources. Its rivers and vegetation are considered a wonderful beauty, along with the weather, the fresh air, the vast green spaces and, also, the didactic- recreational activities which are carried during special festivals.
How to get to Cosquín
By land
The city of Cosquin is located in Córdoba; Córdoba is the gathering point of two roads from the all cardinal points situation that benefits the city, therefore the access to the city is easy from all the Argentinean points.
The National Road No. 38 goes trough Cosquin from North to South. From there it connects with all the roads of the country.
There are a variety of bus companies with daily frequencies to Cosquin city.

Places to visit
The most popular locations are:
San Martín
It covers an entire block. It is located among the following streets: San Martín Avenue, Tucumán, Pte. Sarmiento and Salta. It is decorated with a fountain, flowers and grove.
Prospero Molina
In this place, one of the biggest festivals of folklore is carried out. It is possible to visit it the whole year.
Marcuzzi Small Square
It is situated in front of the bus station.
“Nuestra Señora del Rosario” Church
It was built in different stages since the last half of the XIX century. It has a central nave with two subsidiaries, one of them is the private chapel of the “Holly Sacrament” and the other one belongs to a font. It was carved by natives in the XIX century. The altarpiece from the Major Altar belongs to the XVIII century and inside it, “Nuestra Señora del Rosario” is situated. To the left, the statue of San Esteban, the former patron of Punilla (actual vice-patron of Cosquín) is placed.
Festival of Cosquín
The Folkloric Festival of Cosquín is one of the most important festivals of this kind in the country. It has peculiar characteristics; it shows authenticity in folklore, artistically expression, quality, expressive vanguardist and recovery of traditional legacy.
It is one of the most important folkloric festivals. It is carried out the second half of January. It makes reference to nine moons of Cosquín. There are several activities like:
- Cosquín Festival
- Performances with professional folkloric groups
- Folkloric ballet presentations
- Folkloric shows inside tents where the artists interact with the public
- The tents and bonfires where people sing and dance on the river shores
- The Congress of Argentinean Man and its culture. There, there are courses and workshops for children and adults.
The nine days are called “El duende Cosquín”.
The festival not only develops in sceneries. Every night, there are bands of famous singers with public dance. As well, you can enjoy typical food and good wine. The rider’s parade, the bonfires on the river shores and the dancing next to the colorful tents contribute to the festival enthusiasm.
