Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina.
Buenos Aires is considered one of the most important urban
centers in South America. It has a population of approximately 14 million inhabitants.
Declared Federal Capital of the Republic of Argentina, Buenos Aires is the
financial and economic center and main port of the country. The capital,
denominated Autonomous City of the Government of Buenos Aires, is surrounded by
Buenos Aires and by the Rio de la Plata, and it is divided in 47 neighborhoods,
denominated "barrios porteños".
The City Buenos Aires, or Great Buenos Aires, is a cosmopolitan and modern urban
center with European style. Every day thousands of inhabitants and tourists
circulate in and out.
In front of its costs, bathed by the "River of the Silver", is Montevideo, the
capital of Uruguay, only 45 minutes away by airplane or two and a half hours by
ship.
One of the peculiar characteristics of Buenos Aires is its varied and amusing
night life. Bars, coffee shops, restaurants, pubs, discos are open until dawn.
